The Economic Significance of Speaking Skills

The economic significance of Speaking Skills. Written by Paschal Agonsi.

No matter who you are, your organization or industry, you need public speaking skills to either communicate what you do or use it as a medium to channel your passion.

Communication helps to spread knowledge and information among people. Indeed, communication facilitates the spread of knowledge and forms relationships between people.

Oral and written communication proficiencies are consistently ranked in the top ten desirable skills by employer surveys year after year. Employees are often encouraged to take online courses and in-person training to improve their presentation and communication skills.

The great thing about speaking or being a Compere, is that it rarely coincides with the regular 9am – 5pm (office hours) as most events are held either over the weekends or evenings. That way, you still benefit from a regular job while making money from the side.

The fun thing about speaking is that you could anchor a Wedding and get paid the same amount or more you earn from your daily job after a month of hard work. That’s not to take away how intensive and tasking it is to speak in public though.
